I T I N E R A R Y
DAY 1:Early morning departure to Aphrodisias – one of the most attractive ruins of Turkey. Here you will find the Temple of Aphrodite, Acropolis, Odeion, Agora, Stadium (seating capacity of 30,000) and the baths of Hadrian. Enroute we will stop at the Cinar Country Resort for breakfast. Lunch at the Anatolian Restaurant then drive to Pamukkale to inspect the spectacular Travertines and the ancient city of Hieropolis and its Museum. Continue to Selcuk and check in to The Kalehan Hotel. (B,L,D). O/nite Kalehan Hotel.
DAY 2:After breakfast we will conduct a guided tour of Ephesus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and visit the Temple of Hadrian, the famous Roman baths, Curetes Street, the Amphitheatre and the spectacular Celsus Library. Later, visit the House of the Virgin Mary, the well preserved ‘traditional’ Turkish village of Sirince located nearby – where we will have an opportunity to sample some Turkish wine during lunch and in the afternoon the Ephesus Museum in Selcuk. Late afternoon continue to the small Aegean resort town of Foca. On arrival check in to your hotel. Rest of evening at leisure. (B)
DAY 3:Our short one hour drive along the Aegean coast will take us to Pergamon where we visit the Acropolis and the Pergamon Museum. Afternoon we continue to Assos and check in to the Hotel Assos. Rest of evening at leisure to discover this waterfront ancient Town. (B,D) Overnight Hotel Assos.
DAY 4: Today we drive North to Troy - the city immortalised in Homer’s Illiad and continue to Canakkale visiting the Naval museum before continuing to Gallipolli on arrival we visit the Gallipolli Museum and Kemal Evi – the private house where Mustafa Kemal Ataturk located his headquarters during the campaign. Rest of afternoon at leisure with a Turkish family. Overnight Kale Pansiyon.
DAY 5:This morning we visit the Gallipolli ANZAC battlefields, Lone Pine, Baby 700, Chunuk Bair and Schrapnel Valley, before continuing onto Istanbul via the Gulf of Saroz. The tour terminates on arrival at Istanbul.
